Our mission is to provide excellent, affordable positive pet dog training in clients' homes, and in group class environments. This training will improve the lives of people and their dogs, and strengthen the bonds they share.

Hooked on dogs was started by Barbara Darrow in late 2008, and was borne of years of experience competing and training in various dog sports.

In her years of training dogs for athletic activities, Barbara has found that the best results are only achieved through positive training techniques. Motivating the dogs to learn and to love the game creates an exceptional performance, and lots of fun for both the dog and the handler.

She believes that using positive training methods will develop each dog to his maximum potential, whether the goal is a loving, well-balanced, well-behaved pet, or a canine athlete.

Barbara, her husband Ralph, and their first Border Collie, Einstein, were introduced to flyball in 2002. Flyball is an exciting, fast paced dog relay drag race. She eventually became the President and Training Director for Strike Force Flyball Racing Club of Redding, CA.  Visit www.strikeforceflyball.com. Barbara retired from Strike Force in 2011.

In 2003 Barbara founded Shasta Splash Dogs Dock Jumping Club, also of Redding, CA. Dock jumping involves a dog racing down a 40' dock and long jumping for distance into a pool or lake. She was the Trainer for Shasta Splash Dogs, but retired in 2011. Visit www.shastasplash.com.

Barbara has also been a Pet Partner for Prescription Pets with her Therapy Dog, Gypsy.

In addition to flyball and dock jumping, Barbara and Ralph have been involved to varying degrees with herding, agility, Frisbee dog, and canine freestyle dance.

She has worked with Haven Humane and other Shasta County rescue organizations for years to identify high energy rescue dogs and help the organizations place them into homes where their energy levels are valued. These dogs go on to become canine athletes in flyball, dock jumping, and other high energy sports.
